**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**

**What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?**

As a team comprising around 7 professionals, the Counsel role carries the responsibility of providing corporate legal advice and services across all aspects of BAT Indonesia's (BAT ID) business operations. This entails leading the legal functions for BAT Indonesia, including internal governance and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational objectives.

**Reporting Level**: Individual Contributor

**Employment Type**:12 months contract

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**
- Provide commercial legal advice and assistance to all areas of BAT ID business, focusing on critical business priorities and transformation agenda.
- Integrate into BAT ID’s business, collaborating with the wider team to seek solutions and resolve problems.
- Identify and manage legal risks and issues, ensuring timely legal issues when necessary.
- Support the legal function in managing external legal advisers efficiently and economically.
- Offer effective and commercial governance advice to all areas of BAT ID business as required.
- Lead Governance and Compliance meeting agendas in collaboration with Finance.
- Ensure timely implementation of Board Meetings and Annual GMS of BAT ID entities, including reporting requirements.
- Monitor and support BAT ID’s compliance with key legislation and internal governance requirements and embed compliance and governance requirements across BAT ID’s business through training and effective management of policies and procedures.

**EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE**

**Experience Required**
- Ability to work independently and to engage with people throughout BAT ID, its clients, and external advisers.
- Strong commercial legal advisory skillset including statutory interpretation capabilities, drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, and compliance management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. English is a must.
- Ability to embrace and drive change - this includes a willingness to challenge the status quo with a commitment to continuous improvement and transformation across the organization.
