ABOUT THE ROLE

This role involves coordinating all aspects of the initial start-up of the Batam manufacturing facility including project management, team leadership, process development, and safety compliance, and then progress to the day to day operation of a multi-shift manufacturing facility.

LOCATION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Initial Start Up of Operations:

  • Oversee the startup process of the plant, ensuring all project timelines are met on time and on budget.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies for efficient functioning and optimal productivity.
  • Develop a local domestic supply chain for Batam production.
  • Initial recruitment, training, and development of plant personnel to build a skilled and motivated workforce focused on compliance with local regulations, employment contracts, and customs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure equipment installation are completed on schedule.
  • Establish safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry and country regulations and standards.
  • Prioritize achieving and maintaining IATF certification.
  • Coordinate with supply chain management to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
  • Communicate with upper management regarding progress, challenges, and solutions during the startup process.

Site Management:

  • Ensure Plant Production meets or beats budgeted level of cost, quality, and delivery levels, to ensure we exceed plant O.I. targets.
  • Lead site thru the standard day 1 – day 6 financial rhythm.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (industry 4.0) as outlined in lean diagnosis w/ support of global lean team.
  • Solve and communicate customer supply issues with Line of balance approach.
  • Responsible for driving plant productivity performance.
  • Detailed understanding of plant financial performance and ability to track leading indicators to ensure monthly O.I. results are delivered at committed level.
  • Drive weekly health check results as month progresses.
  • Lead NPI/CPO operational launch and own flawless launch of these products on time operationally.
  • Own plant quality metrics COPQ / external PPM / Internal PPM.
  • Promote daily manufacturing (GEMBA) walk with focus on cross functional continuous improvement process.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and interact inside peer group effectively.
  • Understand and drive operational metrics such as productivity, utilization and efficiency to ensure year over year OI improvements.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies/procedures while ensuring adherence and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Ensures Man, Material, and Machine capacity in place to achieve committed forecast requirements Month / quarter / year.
  • Drives overall EH &S culture and ensures that action is taken to prevent injury/loss.
  • Monitor employee performance thru company appraisal process and provide constructive, accurate, and timely feedback that ensures the entire team is operating desired level.
  • Active participation in the monthly rhythm of closing prior month, ensuring current month, and planning future quarter / year performance.
  • Lead plant operations review preparation and presentation to senior leadership team monthly with a heavy focus on ACTIONS to close gaps / exceed overall plant targets.
  • Ensure plant staffing levels are sufficient to deliver desired results and cost.
  • Leads plant strategy plan and budget formulation annually.
  • Collaborate with other site managers and location to drive total results.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year degree in technical degree field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in plant startup and/or project management.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse workforce with a clear vision of future strategy.
  • Lead execution of strategy at world class pace.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and quality assurance standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with manufacturing software systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
