engineer process plc/ dcs

Some of your duties will include:

To provide advanced engineering expertise in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and associated control networks to ensure high reliability, safety, and uptime of process fixed plant facilities (e.g., crushing, milling, flotation, thickening, dewatering, tailings, and utilities). The role also supports control system upgrades, documentation, and reliability improvement programs as part of the broader Operations & Maintenance team.

Supervision & Execution

• Lead a team of technicians in performing routine and emergency maintenance on PLC/DCS systems.
• Ensure daily work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with SOPs and industry best practices.
• Plan and prioritize work orders, allocate tasks, and verify work completion in alignment with maintenance schedules.

Control Systems Maintenance

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Siemens, ABB, Yokogawa, or Allen-Bradley PLC/DCS systems across crushing, milling, flotation, thickening, and tailings circuits.
• Ensure uptime and integrity of plant-wide SCADA systems and HMIs.
• Manage backups, version control, and documentation for PLC/DCS logic and configuration.

Reliability and Optimization

• Analyze system failure trends and initiate corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and provide technical reports on incidents or system failures.
• Collaborate with reliability and electrical engineers to improve control strategies and automation logic.

Asset Management & Reporting

• Maintain equipment history records, update CMMS (e.g., SAP PM), and ensure availability of critical spare parts.
• Prepare maintenance reports, shift handover notes, and system performance summaries.
• Ensure compliance with change management procedures for control system modifications.

Team Development & Safety

• Coach and mentor technicians in PLC/DCS troubleshooting and safety practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks, hazard identifications (HIRA), and participate in safety audits.
• Ensure team compliance with safety procedures, lock-out tag-out (LOTO), and plant-wide emergency protocols.

What skills and experience do you need?

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or Control Engineering.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in control systems maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in large-scale processing facilities such as copper/gold mining, oil & gas, or petrochemical industry; Proven track record working with PLC/DCS platforms like Siemens PCS7, Yokogawa CENTUM, Rockwell, or ABB 800xA.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of industrial automation, field instrumentation, and process control strategies; Skilled in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics; Familiarity with communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP); Competent in CMMS (e.g., SAP), MS Office, and basic programming/debugging tools.
• Have OEM training certifications (e.g., Siemens PCS7, Rockwell Automation, Yokogawa); Basic or Intermediate certification in industrial networking or cybersecurity is an advantage; Valid electrical work license or control system technician license (if applicable by jurisdiction); Frontline level operational inspector certificate (POP) or qualifications certificate recognized by KaIT (Chief Mines Inspector) in accordance with level of position.
• Strong leadership and organizational, scheduling & time management skills; Ability to work both independently and as a team player and thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment; Ability to communicate well, and work productively with internal and external individuals; A commitment to safety and a desire to maintain our Indonesian mining operations to world class international safety standards;
• Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
