Area Sales Manager

Key Responsibilities
- Set, communicate, and achieve sales targets (monthly / quarterly / annual) for the area.
- Build and lead a sales team: recruiting, training, mentoring, evaluating performance (team leaders, field agents, etc.).
- Plan and implement sales strategies and activation plans in the territory: defining which areas / channels to focus on, prospecting new customers, etc.
- Manage existing customer relationships: ensure high levels of service, address complaints/feedback, retention initiatives.
- Expand customer base: find new accounts, open new distribution channels or partnerships, penetrate new geographic zones.
- Drive field operations: ensuring agents / sales reps adhere to company policies, sales process, documentation (e.g. data entry, reconciliations).
- Monitor inventory / stock levels with agents/distributors; ensure product availability and minimize losses.
- Collaborate with warehouse, logistics to ensure timely supply and deliveries.
- Conduct market visits / field checks frequently; oversee sales execution and promotional / marketing activities at ground level (activations, displays, events, etc.).
- Collect market intelligence: competitor activity, customer feedback, pricing trends, potential threats & opportunities.
- Reporting: regularly submit sales reports, forecasts, performance metrics to management. Track team member KPIs; track financials (e.g. revenue, margins).
- Budgeting: develop territory budget, manage expenses (travel, promotions, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with company standards, processes, ethics.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Several years of relevant sales experience (usually 3-5+), with at least some in field sales / territory management.
- Experience in managing and leading people.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Able to work under pressure, meet targets, and think strategically.
- Analytical mindset; ability to interpret sales data, forecasts, and market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or sales tools / CRM systems.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the area.
